Charolais are the leading cross breeding cattle breed in Australia. The breed is well known for its ability to add muscle to British cattle breeds including Angus, Hereford and Short Horn. In addition to this it also crosses very well with tropical cattle which have varying levels of bos indicus content.
The meat or beef from a Charolais cross animal is typically more tender due to the fact that it reaches target weights at a younger age. Another benefit is that Charolais cross produces tender meat without the high level of fat promoted by other breeds.
