Our individual and leadership programs take historical diversity training programs to the next level. Worldwide, organisations are moving on from generic diversity management theories that were developed in the 80's, which were focused on understanding differences between cultural groups at a national level, to a more dynamic and flexible approach called Cultural Intelligence.
We know that there are multiple complex factors that currently limit people from effectively engaging cross culturally. However, during our research individuals have consistently expressed that an overwhelming fear of being labelled "politically incorrect", and that not having practical skills to deal with differences in behaviour are key factors preventing them from confronting and resolving cross-cultural engagement issues. These factors are limiting our ability to have honest and difficult but crucial conversations at both a workplace and national level, which would enable us to engage more effectively cross-culturally. When engagement fails a range of negative interpersonal dynamics will prevail at a subtle "below the surface", level leaving an undercurrent of resentment and frustration. This leads to increasing levels of conflict and disengagement in the workplace. Cetana Australia's programs are practical and based around real world and "in the moment" inter cultural engagement scenarios and challenges. There is an immediacy about normal interpersonal engagement, it is dynamic and fluid and we don't have time to prepare for every conversation or interaction.
