More about Camp Kulin

The Camp Kulin program began in 2013. It was designed to utilise the Shire of Kulin’s amazing facilities, provide programming for local children and programs for children aged 8-12 from across WA.

Our program has a number of elements, including:
-Scholarship camps: for children who have been affected by childhood trauma
-General camp programming: open to any child in WA
-School programming
-Corporate programming
Volunteer development program

Our camp programs are full to capacity, with children travelling up to 6 hours to take part. The program is supported by a team of 64 volunteers who donate in excess of $100,000 of their time each year to make Camp Kulin happen.

Our program has been internationally recognised as one of the best of its kind in the world.

In the first 15 months of operation, Camp Kulin won the Bendigo Bank Community Choice Awards Project of the Year and the Constable Care Child Safety Awards WA Local Government Category. Our Camp Kulin Manager Tanya Dupagne travelled to America on the Department for Child Protection Churchill Fellowship to research programs aimed at stopping the generational cycle of domestic violence, won the Overall and WA Child Safety Employee categories at the Constable Care Child Safety Awards and was also a finalist in the NAB Women’s Leadership Awards Regional Manager of the Year. Our camp counsellors have received a number of awards, including Premiers Active Citizenship Award, Curtin University Equity and Diversity Leadership Award, City of Kwinana Young Person of the Year and Lions Youth of the Year state finalist for their work with the Camp Kulin program.
