Calamvale Lions Club

The Lions Club of Calamvale, District 201Q1, Australia, is located in Calamvale, a southern suburb of the city of Brisbane, Capital of Australia's Sunshine State, Queensland. Calamvale is about 18 kilometres south of the city centre and is named after the Calam family who were among the first settlers in the area.

In July 1907, James Calam, selected Agricultural Farm 5731 comprising 242 acres (98 hectares) which covered the area bounded by Beaudesert Road on the West, Kameruka Street on the North, Gowan Road on the East and the approximate location of Honeysuckle Way on the South.

The Suburb of Calamvale was officially gazetted by the Queensland Place Names Board on 10 June 1972.

Our club members are men and women who strive to make a difference in their local community as well as in communities worldwide.

Each year Calamvale Lions help many people in our community. Some of the community projects our club has conducted over the years include Clean Up Australia Day, Youth of the Year contest, YMCA Youth Parliament Forum, Calamvale Community College Leadership badges and Student of the Month Awards, Stretton College Senior Leader badges, donations towards mobility walkers, collection of used eyeglasses and postage stamps for recycling for Lions International projects, donations of large print books to Sunnybank RSL, fundraising BBQs, sale of Lions Christmas cakes and Christmas gift wrapping, Christmas hampers for foster families and, donation of various items to needy members of our community.

Our club also raises money for many charities and Lions Club International Foundation programs.

We meet at the Acacia Ridge Hotel & Motel, 1386 Beaudesert Road, Brisbane
on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday each month - 6.30 for 7.00pm :
* 1st Wednesday of the month - Dinner Meeting
(usually have a guest speaker)
* 3rd Wednesday on the month - Business / Dinner Meeting
