The City of Bunbury is a local government area in the South West region of Western Australia, covering an area of 65.7km2 along the coast about 180km south of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. The City of Bunbury is one of four local governments comprising the Greater Bunbury sub-region. As at 30 June 2010, the City of Bunbury had an estimated population of 34,626.HistoryIn 1871, the Municipality of Bunbury was gazetted, and in 1899 the Bunbury Suburban Road District followed. The two entities merged in 1950.On 1 July 1961, the Municipality of Bunbury became a town following the enactment of the Local Government Act 1960.
