Broome Academy of Music

We feel passionate about the fact that people all over the country should have access to a music school.
There is a population of approximately 16,000 residents in Broome with a large percentage of primary and secondary aged students. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn musical skills either for their own interest and therapy or to be able to pursue further education or a career in this field.
It has long been known, researched and documented that the benefits of music are paramount in a person’s life. It is particularly true for people that struggle with difficulties in academic learning, or who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. It is a form of expression for people who otherwise cannot communicate effectively and it is a way for people to keep focussed on a task, committing to regular practice, rather than looking for other ways to spend their time.
Music is a great ‘healer’ and can reach out to many different people in different ways. We hope to be able to continue to provide this service in the Kimberley.
