More about Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club

Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club fields Senior, Junior, Veterans and Womens Football teams and three Netball teams in the Eastern Football League. We also have an Auskick Centre for primary school boys and girls and we run school and holiday football clinics for boys and girls during the year.

Boronia Football Netball Club is a community based organisation that provides an important sporting and social hub for the people of Boronia. We are committed to operating the Club in a professional and responsible manner that is consistent with our legal obligations and community expectations. Accordingly, the Boronia Football Club aims to create a healthy, safe and family friendly environment that will help to support a positive image for the Club and will also be advantageous in attracting new members.

Boronia Football Club was formed in 1932. However, a team representing Boronia was admitted to the Scoresby Districts Football Association in 1930. A combined Bayswater-Boronia team played in the same league from 1927 to 1929.

In 1950 Boronia became one of the founding clubs of the Croydon-Ferntree Gully Football League.

In 1962 the club then became one of the founding clubs in the Eastern Districts Football league (E.D.F.L).

In 1969 the Boronia footy club won the E.D.F.L 2nd division premiership.

Then in 1977 the club had a hugely succesful year with all three teams (seniors, reserves and under 18's) winning the third division premiership.

Nine years later in 1986 the club took out the 2nd division senior premiership for the second time.
The club performed well in 1st division for ten seasons including a number of finals appearances.

In 1996 the club was relegated back to 2nd division. It did not take long before Boronia was a force in 2nd division appearing in unsuccessful grand finals in 1998 and 1999. 2000 saw the re-emergence of the Hawker with a resounding premiership victory out at Waverley Park against Blackburn. Having held the premiership cup aloft the end of an era at the Hawks nest occured with a number of retirements. The beginning of new era has begun and hopefully there will be many more success stories to come.
