Blacktown Sinhala School was established on 26th of February 2006. As a school we strive to teach our children to write, read and speak our mother language, Sinhala. We also provide them with an opportunity to learn about the Sinhala culture and to socialize with children from the same family background.
Children attending school also get the opportunity to participate in Sri Lankan cultural events organized by the Sinhalese Cultural Forum, such as Bak Maha Rangana, Biennial Sinhala School Concert and the Biennial Mahawamsa Exhibition.
Blacktown Sinhala School is partly funded by a grant provided by the Community Languages Program of the Department of Education, NSW.
The language skills of our students are recognized by the NSW Government via the Ministers’ Award Program conducted annually.
