The school, established in 1886, continues to build on a rich tradition of achievement and is creating a reputation for innovation and a commitment from us, as educators, to instill a passion for learning within all children and to nurture their social, emotional, physical and academic development. Blackbutt State School offers a multi age, co-educational continuous curriculum program, across years Prep-7, encompassing the eight key learning areas. Blackbutt State School is a rural school situated at the southern entrance of the South Burnett. Recent enrolments typically rest at approximately 175 children, who are supported and served by an extensive team of talented, dedicated, enthusiastic and caring staff and community.

The school and community espouse a culture of high expectations for students, staff and parents alike. Our team has a highly developed work ethic that enables us to become highly skilled in many areas of expertise. We promote integrity, encourage acceptance and endorse respect for self, others and the environment. Blackbutt State School endeavours to provide a pleasant, well equipped, cooperative and respectful environment where children are encouraged to acquire knowledge, courage, acceptance, compassion, consideration and a sense of responsibility to fulfill their own individual potential and develop positive self-esteem.
