Background:

My name is Joshua Daniele, and my journey started 15 years ago, in Acland st in St Kilda at Hairroom Salon, an enthusiastic 18 year old, keen to learn the craft of hairdressing. Following in my fathers foot steps I began my journey.

I began my 4 year apprenticeship in the up beat and quirkiness of Hairroom in the St Kilda location and finished up at Hairroom in the upper market sophisticated area of their Hawthorn shop. After finishing my apprenticeship I then moved on to join my father’s team in Ivanhoe, Melbourne. My father who had 35 years experience in the field of hairdressing, taught me all he had learnt throughout his long career as a ladies hair dresser and stylist.

With my thirst to learn and expand my knowledge and techniques, I ventured off to London where I studied at Vidal Sassoon Academy. There I learnt a unique and different side to hairdressing, that it is not just hair it’s a texture, a material that I can work with to create my masterpiece, my artwork. It is my canvas and my hands are the tools.

I then went onto teaching the art of hair, at Wella Academy in Surry Hills, Melbourne. There I taught mens and ladies cut and colour techniques, applying my new found skills and knowledge to the young and up and coming hair stylists.

Still not satisfied that I had learnt all I had to know about hairdressing, I then returned to the UK to study my masters degree in cutting, at Vidal Sassoon Academy. Whilst I was there I attended to Mahogany Academy to learn how to teach effectively the new arts that I had acquired.

When I returned from the UK back to Australia, I continued my education in ladies cut and colour at Wella Academy, whilst working at my fathers salon at Hair By Yves. Over the last 10 years I have co-managed the salon, learning the ins and outs of running a successful business. I now take with me my great knowledge and passion for the art of hairdressing to venture out to new horizons to start my very own salon.
