More about Black Dog Olives

Our place is mostly native forest with a small olive grove and fruit trees hidden away in the centre of the property, our small slice of paradise.
All the olives and fruit are handpicked, however we share a portion of them with the king parrots, kangaroos and some of the other native birds and wildlife that live in our forest.

We pickle our olives in a brine solution for more than a year to extract the natural bitter taste they produce - try one straight from the tree and you’ll see!

We grow 4 olive varieties:
Correggiola (Italian)
Nevadillo Blanco (Spain)
Manzanillo (Spain)
UC13A6 California Queens (Hybrid of the Spanish Queen from the University of California)

Black Dog Tapenade is made from our olives with a number of spicy ingredients including anchovies, capers, garlic, black pepper, lemon, sun dried tomato and olive oil.

Our homemade jam comes from the fruit trees on the property, which includes an assortment of peach, nectarines, plums, lemons, mixed with Australian sugar and a little pectin. We also add some fruits from other local producers, such as strawberries and apricots, to cater for the variety of individual’s tastes.

Our location is halfway between Chiltern and Beechworth, on the corner of the C377 and Toveys Road, which leads up to the Yeddonba Aboriginal Art site located in the National Park.
