More about Bitter Springs Cabins and Camping

Formerly known as Mataranka Cabins and camping this small family owned property has received a new name - Bittersprings Cabins and Camping at Mataranka. Just a short 500 metre walk from the lovely Bitter Springs Thermal Pools this accommodation facility has 4 lovely clean self contained cabins and a large number of powered and unpowered campsites suitable for tents, campers or caravans. This campground is an ideal base to explore the Never Never Region and Elsey National Park.

CABINS: Our fully self contained cabins are stylish and well appointed. They have ensuite toilet and shower and are well spaced for privacy. The cabins have all the requirements for you to have a relaxing and enjoyable break. Your pets are welcome in our grounds but unfortunately they are not allowed inside the cabins or into the Bittersprings as this is part of the national park.

CAMPGROUNDS: With powered and unpowered sites large enough in size to park both your caravan and car, clean toilets and showers, laund ry and camp kitchen equipped with BBQ and fridge. Your pets are welcome in the campgrounds but unfortunately they are not allowed into the Bittersprings as this is part of the national park.

BITTERSPRINGS TOURIST LOCATION: This amazing destination is only a 500m walk from the campgrounds and remains a beautiful 32 degrees Celsius. It is part of Elsey National Park and has a day use area with barbecues, tables and eco-friendly toilets. We recommend you experience the springs by hiring from us pool noodles (flotation devices) putting your thongs, sandals or crocs onto the ends and floating with the current 200m down the Aquatrail. With an underwater mask (available for hire), freshwater turtles are often seen swimming amongst the reed beds. At the end of the gentle drift, a ladder lets the adventurer climb out onto the Bitter Springs walking path and return to the main pool for another go round.
