Bel Canto Singing & Music Academy

SINGING
Bel Canto has fully trained singing teachers who teach most genres. Singers are taught many different techniques including how to enhance or extend their vocal range, give them the ability to sing for much longer periods without getting a sore throat, improve pitch and vocal phrasing, plus learn the theory of the music which they are singing.

Singing lessons are generally one on one, but group lessons (duos or trios) are welcome.

Performance opportunities include Students Concerts, Eisteddfods, AMEB examinations, Community and Charity Events…. all places where students can sharpen their skills and grow in confidence.

AMEB examinations are held annually in Rockhampton. All grades are prepared including Classical, Singing for Leisure and Contemporary Performer syllabuses. AMEB examinations are held in the Performance Room at Bel Canto with an average of 70 Bel Canto singing students sitting exams.

Many vocalists from Bel Canto have gone on to become students at the Conservatorium of Music and other musical institutions, Songleaders on Praise & Worship Teams, won awards in national competitions, gone to Tamworth and even been winners in the MusicOz Awards.

The Academy has 6 teaching rooms and a Performance Room catering for concerts, singing and dance routines, even a stage and theatre lights for training.

GUITAR
Bel Canto has Peter Camm teaching Guitar and Bass. He is a highly experienced musician who has worked as a session player in Melbourne and Sydney, and now performs regularly in and around Rockhampton.

Peter teaches all styles of Guitar from classical to contemporary pop, classical to modern music theory, composition and performance.

Peter has also created the 15 piece Bel Canto Guitar Ensemble which he directs and composes for.

So if it's learning to strum around the campfire or having success with your AMEB exams, Peter Camm is your man!

PIANO
Piano lessons are available for beginners right through to “letters”. Students learn the full theory of music in their piano lessons and are encouraged to participate in concerts, AMEB exams and Eisteddfod work. Come and learn, or just sharpen your skills.

DRUM
Our Drum Teacher Judy Carling, also a qualified Primary School Teacher, teaches drumming / percussion for all age groups.

DRUM KIT - Beginner level funk, rock, hip hop / trip hop and Latin American.

AFRICAN & LATIN AMERCIAN - Beginner to intermediate level African drumming and beginner to advanced level Latin America drumming / percussion.

Remember being taught the correct technique and rhythm is the basis of good drumming.

VIOLIN
Bel Canto offers Violin lessons by our Qualified Teacher. Eisteddfod work and AMEB exam preparation is offered as well as participation in student concerts, OR just learn for fun.
