Beck St Kindergarten

Beck St Kindergarten is a community owned Centre fully affiliated with the Crèche and Kindergarten Association of Queensland. The Centre was established in 1965. The program run at Beck St focuses solely on Kindergarten/Pre-Prep age as children’s learning and growing needs. As such your child will be with the same group of friends in each session they attend allowing them to develop social skills and to form bonds with other children.



We have one teaching unit each catering for 2 groups of Pre Prep children aged 3.5-4.5. Each of the two groups attends on a five day fortnight basis, making a total enrolment of 44 children. Each group is run by our specialist Early Childhood Teacher (minimum qualification 4 year university degree) and a specialist Teaching Assistant (minimum qualification Cert 111 in Childcare).



This community Kindergarten is funded by State Government grants, by fees and funds raised by the parent body each year. As the Centre is already receiving a State Government subsidy the fee relief system does not apply. The Centre is, however, registered as a provider for the Child Care Rebate for the benefits of parents who work or study during the hours their child attends.



The Centre is managed by a committee elected by the members of the Beck St Kindergarten Association Inc. The Committee operates under a constitution. This Committee is elected annually and needs the interest and support of all parents. Parents can help by attending the monthly meetings and by actively participating in the Centre’s maintenance rosters, social events and fundraising activities. Meetings of the elected Committee are held once a month at a time agreed upon by the newly elected committee.



This Kindergarten continues to meet the high standard set by the C & K Association (with whom we are affiliated) and which provides management advice, facilitates our funding, and educational consultancy in the form of seminars and an early educational and care consultant.



The Kindergarten also follows the framework set out by the Australian Children’s Education & Care Authority (ACECQA) and adheres to the National Quality Standards.
