The Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership offers innovative, evidence-based and highly relevant leadership professional development and training courses that respond to the ever-evolving needs of primary and secondary school teachers, principals and early childhood professionals.
Established in 2009, the Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership is a branch within the Early Childhood and School Education Group at the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD).
Bastow is named after Henry Robert Bastow, the chief architect and surveyor employed by the Department of Education as part of Victoria's landmark Education Act of 1872. Henry Bastow designed more than 900 school buildings, most of which are still in use as government primary schools.
Bastow offers innovative, evidence-based and highly relevant leadership professional development and training courses that respond to the ever-evolving needs of primary and secondary school teachers, principals and early childhood professionals.
Bastow equips emerging leaders with the essential skills and knowledge to grow and develop; builds the capacity of middle leaders to effect positive change; and provides valuable and practical ongoing support for new and experienced principals. We also provide instructional leadership for teachers to develop and lead in key curriculum areas.
