About Us

Barunah Plains Station was recently purchased by Damien and Jane Canny. The Station is strongly associated with the grazing history of the Western District, and prior to soldier settlement in 1946 it was the largest sheep station in Victoria.

This unique homestead and infratstucture is a one off – designed by architects Davidson and Henderson dating back to 1866. It has large formal gardens, stables, ramshed, coachhouse, woolshed, bluestone cottages, and shearers quarters.

Over the coming years the Canny family will undertake a major renovation project on this homestead to return it to its former glory. Soon Barunah Plains will be back to its magnificent old self; with the homestead and outbuildings being restored, crops planted and merino sheep back in the paddock.

An Australian icon, why not stay at Cool Cottage at Barunah Plains Station and become part of this remarkable property’s story.
