Bareknuckle Books has climbed into the ring (gloves off) and will fight to become one of the most independent-minded and prestigious literary publishers in Australia. We will initially publish around five new titles a year in the market genres of literary fiction, literary non-fiction and poetry. We provide authors with the intimacy of a small, highly experienced creative team while consistently punching above our weight in review coverage, cultural impact and sales.
Bareknuckle Books was launched in 2014 and champions the editorial principle to publish ‘only writing we fall in love with’.
Bareknuckle Books will establish a reputation for publishing intelligent, challenging and original books and for maintaining rigorous editorial standards.
Our fiction and non-fiction are voice-driven, narrative and blur genre boundaries (and indeed frequently defines new genres). We publish memoirs; popular philosophy; reportage; scholarly works and political/cultural investigation.
We publish ground-breaking, ambitious, and beautifully written fiction, short stories, novellas and poetry.
We are always looking for and nurturing new Australian talent.
