AvServe’s purpose and goal is to promote interest in aviation careers and to raise awareness of the need for mission aviators who may be called to serve as pilots or engineers in this ministry.

Why…?

The statistics below tell the story that provides the motivation AvServe needs to respond to the challenges. AvServe aims to increase the number of trained pilots who would ultimately be in a position to fly into remote airstrips to help vulnerable communities. Concurrently, AvServe aims to increase the number of trained engineers to maintain the aircraft needed to reach remote areas. Whether you plan to work directly with remote communities or plan to work for an airline, why not qualify as a pilot or engineer that can choose to step forward and help vulnerable communities in times of crisis and disaster.

The World Bank and other international organisations adopt $1.90 per person per day threshold as the standard for extreme poverty. This is the minimum amount required to meet a person’s basic needs.

In rural areas, three in every four people are living on less than $1 a day, and a similar share of the worlds population suffer from malnutrition.

Over 1.4 billion people (that's one sixth of the world’s population) lack the ability to fulfill basic needs, with the majority of these people unable to read or write.

Almost half the world — over 3 billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day.

Approximately 790 million people in the developing world are still chronically undernourished, almost two-thirds of whom reside in Asia and the Pacific.

According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty. And they “die quietly in some of the poorest villages on earth, far removed from the scrutiny and the conscience of the world. Being meek and weak in life makes these dying multitudes even more invisible in death.”

AvServe is helping fulfil the requirement for pilots and engineers to fly and work in remote areas where the need is great. The planes, their pilots and their much needed cargo represent access, support and hope for those who are the most vulnerable.
