More about Avoca Beach Yoga

YOGA SENSATION - Rebecca Edwards

I founded Yoga Sensation in 2009, originally based at Mona Vale and then Bilgola Surf Clubs and now moved to AVOCA BEACH Rugby Club.

My classes include a mixture of (vinyasa) flowing dynamic movement, static stretches using yoga props (pranayama) breathing exercises, meditation offering variations for each individual student. I integrate poses from many different styles of yoga, giving students variety and keeping them learning and interested. I offer a personalized experience in a friendly group environment leaving you refreshed and revitalized. Also by appointment only private, therapeutic, one on one session are available as well.

My Mother introduced me to the philosophies of yoga, breathing techniques and meditation at an early age of 8. After many years of intense physical gym training, and years of working on my feet began to take a toll on my body, in my late 20's I turned to a personal daily practice of yoga asana (physical yoga postures or poses)instead.

To compliment my private practice called ‘Talk Therapy’ ( Individual , Couples and Family Counselling and Psychotherapy) I decided to become a qualified yoga teacher.

Now as a teacher I feel blessed in my job that I have Yoga it offers so many life tools, I can educate my clients and students of the benefits of Yoga as a life style. In so many ways I witness the positives that Yoga contributes to their lives.

For years taught corporate Yoga to Blackmores staff at their head office in Sydney during their lunch hour. It was a privilege for me to help them manage their stress and break up their working day.
One of the most rewarding things that I have done is teach chair Yoga at the local nursing home, I receive so much joy from seeing the residence spirits lift. One of the ladies told me she is 97years old. From old to young, I taught a children's classes between the ages of 6-12 and we have so much fun. I

Above all I do yoga because it makes me feel good. From doing yoga I have gained strength, vitality and an overall sense of wellbeing. Yoga has improved my posture, through alignment and conditioning. It reduces my stress calms and focuses my mind. Shifts emotional obstacles and released me from bad habits such as smoking and an eating disorder. Yoga helps me to manage depression, anxiety and gives me self esteem. It allows my energy to flow and awakens my spirit.
