More about Aunty Amanda's SPA

Aunty Amanda's SPA came about after my little Chihuahua Chachi jumped off the couch, landed funny and hurt his back, I took him to the vet who prescribed anti-inflammatories and said he had Degenerative Disc Disease, then when I went to claim on his Private Health Insurance they kindly told me they didn't cover this. Upset I started looking into 'other' treatments. After googling I found the National Collage of Traditional Medicine (NCTM) who offered a Certificate in Canine Myotherapy (Dog Massage), having a lot of success with Myotherapy myself from Stacy Fay & Dempsey Omrod at the Advanced Health Pain & Injury Clinic at Buderim, I immediately signed up. I also started looking into Essential Oils, as I had used them years ago and had much success for Relaxation. The best product I could find on the market seemed to be Doterra so I went along to a Animal Session held by a Dog and Cat Groomer in Brisbane Reeda Close. Again, blown away by the results she was having I signed up! I had also heard a lot about Dr Henry Stephenson at Wurtulla from other Pet Resort Customers and knew he was in the process of Opening in a new premises at Forest Glen, I made an appointment and met with Dr Renee O’Duhring, I was immediately impressed with their premises, the fact that she had Doterra Oils going in her office to calm the animals and her holistic approach. Now Chachi when meeting new people had a habit of biting first and making friends afterwards. I was pleasantly surprised how calm he was in Dr Renee's presence. Dr Renee agreed with me that this was not Degenerative Disc Disease at all but had simply hurt himself jumping off the couch. Chachi has since had numerous Acupuncture sessions with Dr Renee and Dr Renee approved of my massage techniques and said keep it up. We also talked about natural anti-inflammatories that I could be adding to his food, luckily I already get all my food from Colette from TLC Pet Foods and she added Turmeric and Salmon Oil to Chachi's diet which already consisted of their "Total" Chicken product which is a raw complete meal using preservative free, free range, unbleached Chicken mince combined with fresh Carrots, Apples and Celery. Blended with a supplement of Linseed Meal, Seaweed Meal, Nettle, Alfalfa, Parsley, and Garlic. A small portion of offal, B vitamins, Omega-3, Omega-6 fatty acids essential Amino Acids, Iron, Taurine and Potassium. I also shake this up with Turkey, Beef, Roo as Chicken is the highest in fat and well errr Chachi likes his food. So anyhow I was now basically set. Chachi now gets twice daily massages to keep him in tip top shape and I extended Aunty Amanda's SPA Services to include things like Nail Clipping or Pawdicures, Facials, Ear Cleaning, trips to a doggy cafe - things that meant I could spend quality time with my favourite furries whilst they were away from their mummies and daddies so they would feel they always had someone friendly and loving that they would get to see when they came in for their holiday too! Ok...it's also for me, after years of my husband Garth and I trying for human children which may of actually been a blessing in disguise when we realised it was just not going to happen, I found my calling, I LOVE spending time with your fur kids, I get to LOVE them whilst they are in our care and they keep me calm and happy. It's a Win Win. I'm truly blessed. xo
