The Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Melbourne is the longest-running Ashtanga school in Victoria and was the first Yoga school in Melbourne solely dedicated to the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
The Centre was founded in 1993 by Greg and Tracy Cooper.
It is on the map of must-visit Ashtanga schools, hosting many of the world's leading practitioners over its 20-year life, including Manju Jois, Louisa Sear, David Swenson, Graeme Northfield, Dena Kingsberg, John Scott, Nicki Knoff, Matthew Sweeney, Tomas Zorzo and Gregor Maehle.
Today there are several longstanding, well-regarded and highly committed teachers at the Centre - including Amanda Stead, Eoin McCarthy, Douglas Brook, Leah Kazuko Casey, Tracey Alamanos and Founders Greg & Tracy Cooper.
All teach with respect to the traditional Mysore style but bring subtly different approaches to the practice experience. Several have trained directly under the late Ashtanga Yoga Master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.
The ongoing goal of the Centre is to continue to provide students at all levels of experience with a learning environment that is empowering, nurturing and therapeutic.
