To provide culturally appropriate Aboriginal health care services and the promotion of healthy lifestyles, well-being and good health with the support and participation of our communities.

Our Service
The need for an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) in Inverell and surrounding district was identified by members of the local Aboriginal communities. Local community people began meeting in 1990 to discuss establishing a community controlled health service and registered Armajun Aboriginal Health Service Incorporated on the 25th January 1992. The name Armajun means “Open Minded”.

Recall and Reminder System
Our service has a system in place to follow up with pathology results, reports, and other test results.
You are advised to telephone or visit Armajun three (3) days after any tests you have had to receive your results.

Confidentiality
Armajun Aboriginal Health Service maintains strict confidentiality; this extends to client information, business and other information.
You may have access to your medical records on request. At any time you may request we transfer your medical records to another practice. We will always ask your permission and get your signed consent for the release or transfer of your medical information.

Complaints
Our service deals with concerns in a courteous and understanding manner.
You may discuss with staff if you feel the service is not to your satisfaction, if you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can write to the CEO of Armajun AHS with your concern.
Our service provides clients with the opportunity to write down any concerns, compliments or suggestions; Forms can be completed and may be placed in the Suggestion Box in the waiting room.
At any time you may contact the Australian Human Rights Commission if you have a concern or complaint about this service. Phone: 1300 656 419. Complaint Forms are located in the waiting room.

You can also call the Health Care Complaints Commission. The Commission deals with complaints about doctors, nurses, dentists, hospitals and medical centres. Call them on 1800 043 159. Tell them what you are not happy about.
