Arc Yinnar

arc , Main Street, Yinnar, is a unique centre for creativity and contemporary art. This artist-run, non-profit organisation is a vital link within the Gippsland art community. The facilities at arc provide a setting for the cultivation of fresh perspectives through all manners of creative expression for artists as well as encouraging community involvement in the arts arena.

arc, was established in 1982 by a group of young artists who determined to continue their art practice by renovating a disused and derelict butter factory into a meeting place and work space. Members are proud of the continued development of the art centre which today houses its administration base, retail outlet, private studios and fully equipped public access areas for printmaking, ceramics, metalwork, photography, painting and drawing. Workshops are held on a regular basis throughout the year, in all areas of the arts, under the direction of experienced professional tutors and practicing artists.

The high quality exhibitions hosted monthly in elegant Gallery arc have contributed to the organisation’s growing reputation. The exhibition program is diverse with an emphasis on artwork of a contemporary nature.

The arc Switchroom is a performance venue designed to create a club atmosphere with high acoustic qualities. Facilities include bar with limited licences, bio box with outstanding stage view and mounted 3mm film projectors, backstage area and kitchen making this an ideal and very flexible venue. The open stage events are a community based project attracting local performance artists including entertainers, musicians, poets, writers composers and dancers. One-off performances also occur with assistance from the Regional Arts Victoria and/or Arts Victoria.

arc remains dedicated to the production and promotion of contemporary art. It pursues this through all aspects of its operations but mainly by providing and maintaining:
• facilities for art production which are adequate and accessible physically, financially and with professional assistance when required;
• a meeting place and forum for discussion, contemporary journals and networked information;
• an excellent venue for the promotion of work through its gallery or more permanent space in the shop;
and by attempting to provide employment and/or further skill development and activity for artists.


arc Open Hours are 12 to 4pm Tuesday to Friday and 11 to 3pm Saturdays.
