The Amata Internet Centre was opened in April 2012 as an initiative of the National Partnership for Remote Indigenous Internet Access (NPA). The NPA provides free public internet access in the remote indigenous communities and basic digital literacy training. The project is jointly provided by the Department of Broadband Communications and Digital Economy (DBCDE) and the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science & Technology. The project gives the Anangu people living in Amata skills to confidently access on-line resources and services which will help to minimise the impact of living in such remote communities where services and amenity are often restricted.
