Alkira Bruny Island

Welcome to our newly purchased island getaway on Bruny Island! After 6 months of enjoying running our newly decorated B&B in the city we fell in love with this place at the end of last year and decided to embark on another accommodation venture.

Our spacious 2 bedroom holiday house is situated in Lunawanna, Bruny Island. It is a short drive to Cloudy Bay, The Lighthouse and Bruny Island Winery. Other attractions include the Bruny Island Cheese Co, The Smokehouse, The Chocolate Factory, Berry Farm, Oyster Farm, and Adventure Bay Tours. The Lunawanna Cafe is a great general store that's close by and we are also close to the only pub on the island!

It is situated on the quiet part of the island with a beautiful beach within walking distance from the shack. You can enjoy spectacular views of the Hartz Mountains and the D'entrecasteau channel every morning sitting out on the front deck.

The shack has two large, newly decorated bedrooms and a room off the second bedroom which has a bunk bed for extra guests/children. All linen is provided and tastfully decorated with Laura Ashley and Linen House bed covers. Although we have redecorated to include homely comforts and a rustic design, ''Alkira'' still maintains that shack look and feel which is why we love coming over to Bruny to unwind and relax.

Our bright and sunny kitchen is also fully equipped and there are even some cook books for inspiration. We have a woodheater in the living room which heats the whole house on those rare chilly nights. Outside there are BBQ facilities and an outdoor entertaining area which you can enjoy. Whether you want to stay a few days or a couple of weeks you can be assured that our shack has everything you need away from home.

''Alkira'' means ''bright and sunny'' in aboriginal which we think is the perfect description for our warm and inviting Bruny Shack :)

''This place is fantastic! We woke up to beautiful views of the water without even getting out of bed, enjoyed breakfast in the spacious living area, then explored all Bruny Island had to offer. Great location for walks on the beach, surfing, kayaking, snorkeling and hanging out with friends. Fire keeps the whole house warm at night and the kitchen is big enough for a group to cook. Booking was easy and Courtney was very helpful. Highly recommend a stay!''
