The RAAF Association has redeveloped a Museum, depicting the History of the Royal Australian Air Force, from its origins as the Australian Flying Corps in 1914 to the present day. The Museum, situated in the RAAF Memorial Centre, 61 Davey Street HOBART is open to the public on Sundays from 10:00am until 3:00pm –admission free. The Museum contains a wide range of authentic uniforms, World War Two artefacts and an amazing photographic collection – a ‘must see’ for all aviation buffs. There is an important focus on the Tasmanian participation in this rich history. There is also a very comprehensive library of aviation related books which are available to the public on loan. The re-development of this Museum has been under the direction of Arts Tasmania ‘Roving Curators’ and has had much appreciated support from the Tasmanian Government and the Hobart City Council. Professional guidance has been provided by a retired Air Vice-Marshal Peter Scully, an ex-RAAF fighter pilot.
