A Baby Is Born

My experiences as a midwife have taught me just how sacred and life-changing the birth of a baby can be. A birth is an intensely consuming and overwhelming moment and women and their partners should be empowered to achieve the birth reality of their dreams by being supported, resourceful and informed.

If you are an expectant mother or considering a future pregnancy and would like to know more about how you can become more empowered about your birth then I would like to introduce you to 'A Baby Is Born'. The core service at 'A Baby Is Born' will offer a childbirth education course called Calmbirth. Calmbirth is designed to eliminate anxiety and fear surrounding labour and birth. It teaches women and their support people to create a confident mindset to work with the birthing body to facilitate a gentle birth experience. This education includes components that address unexpected challenges and issues that may present during labour, birth and the early postnatal period in addition to teaching about the normal physiological processes involved. It will also have a strong focus on supporting expectant parents about all the evidence-based care options open to them. This program will be offered in group settings and private sessions will also be available. This education is not just beneficial for first-time parents - it is ideal for parents who may be seeking a different experience compared to when their other children were born.

'A Baby Is Born' will also be facilitating focused, specialist workshops and presentations encompassing all issues and challenges surrounding pregnancy, birth and the early postnatal period in addition to promoting and educating about optimal, holistic, safe and environmentally sustainable health care considerations for mothers and babies. Information and access to additional supporting resources will also be available and some extra and very exciting services will be added in the near future!

This service is committed to empowering the women of north-central and Western Victoria about the ability of their body to give birth and to support them in exploring all their pregnancy and birth care options. 'A Baby Is Born' will be servicing areas within the Grampians, Wimmera, Mallee and north-central regions including Horsham, Bendigo and Ararat.
