Young & District Little Athletics

Welcome to the 2016/2017 season. I would like to welcome to the club both old and new families.

Family involvement is of paramount importance. Not only do parents get to share in their child’ enjoyment, but they get to see their child develop new skills in the variety of events offered by the center.

We also need your support to make our centre a success. We have a large number of children and variety of events every competition night, and we require assistance every week with each family to provide assistance at least 75% of the season.

Young and District Little Athletics compete in Central Tablelands Zone against athletes from Bathurst, Canowindra, Cowra, Cumnock, Forbes, Grenfell, Molong, Orange, Parkes, and Peak Hill. Our zone championships will be held in Orange on November 28-29.

The first four placegetters from Zone championships are invited to Regionals where they will compete against Western Ranges and Western Plains. Our regionals this year will be in Dubbo on February 20-21.

Last season we had a total of 157 athletes enjoy the family, fun and fitness of Little Athletics. Our website (www.youngla.org.au) has been a great success and we encourage all families to refer to the website for information regarding your child’s progress, news, and all upcoming events.

HISTORY

Little Athletics began in Geelong, Victoria, in 1964. By 1967 there was a Victorian Little Athletics’ Association. Within five years the Australian Little Athletics Union was born. There are now 196 centres in NSW alone.
