YakAbility

The idea of providing kayaking skills development and kayaking trips began in 2010 when a passionate high school teacher developed a kayaking program at his local high school in Sydney. Over the years, with additional training and experience, that program grew to incorporate students with disabilities and provided a unique experience kayaking on the famous Sydney Harbour.


In 2014, having relocated to Newcastle, we began exploring the areas around the harbour and rivers to develop a safe and enjoyable kayaking program.


As a result of our commitment to sharing the joys of such a wonderful water activity to people with all abilities, we officially launched YakAbility. Since its launch in early 2016, we have organised and purchased kayaking equipment required to provide kayaking skills development and kayaking tours to people with all abilities along with becoming an official provide through NDIS.
