'World Music Safari - Sounds From Other Lands' is a weekly two-hour radio program Sundays 11am-1pm on Phoenix FM 106.7 (Bendigo, Victoria, Australia) playing an eclectic mix of music from the global melting pot of cultures. It's hosted and curated by Dawn Delaney. You'll hear everything from cheesy French vintage pop, sounds from across the African continent (Congolese soukous, Cape Verdean morna, Ghanian Highlife, South African township jive, Mozambiquan marrabenta, Zimbabwean chimurenga, Senegalese mbalax, Malagasy Folk, Malian blues, Nigerian Afrobeat, Algerian Rai, Morocco gnawa and much more.....), Gypsy music, Colombian cumbia, Sami music, Mexican mariarchi, devotional music from Pakistan and India, calypso worldwide, reggae and all its derivations from mento, ska, rocksteady, dubstep and dancehall, Brazilian musical goodness, Finnish folk, music from the African Slave Route, Spice and Silk Routes, Middle Eastern music, music from the Caribbean, contemporary global folk/indie pop, world soul & RnB and anything else that takes my fancy!
