Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation

Our local, experienced Culture and Heritage Field Site Work Officers engage with Upper Hunter Valley mines and archeologists and consult in the significance of artefacts and identified Aboriginal sites.

We provide optical services on site, we have links to Aboriginal sexual health workers and mental health practitioners.

Accredited and non-accredited training is provided on site regularly through a variety of partnerships. We also provide education, support and specialised mentoring to the Indigenous community through the Way Ahead Program coordinated by state training services.

Our promotion of local Aboriginal artists, authentic Aboriginal art and culture is evident in the art displayed at Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation office. Examples of the vibrant colours and symbolism used to tell local stories can be found in our centre. A wider variety of art can be found through WUPA@Wanaruah annual Aboriginal Arts Festival.

Because of our extensive network, Ungooroo aims to connect Indigenous people with advocacy groups and other services across the Hunter, including Aboriginal Legal Services, Compass Housing, Indigenous Business Australia (Homeownership), Business Support Services (AEDO Program), Employment and Training (NCAP Officer), Hunter Region BEC and Ungooroo's Cultural Awareness and appreciation training workshops.

Our revamped venue is available for training, conferences and meetings. This facility comfortably seats groups of 10 to 15 people. The layout can be adjusted to suit your purpose.
