The Book House has significant experience in developing an understanding of the customers’ collection philosophy and uses this approach with hundreds of libraries across our customer base including The State Library. In order to understand your collection process we conduct one of our Critical Service Processes: (Buying through the customers eyes): This process is designed to ensure we select titles as if we were the customer. Key process steps are as follows:
* Understand the key objectives of profiling and standing orders.
* Confirm how the client chooses to define each collection, and what the philosophy and objectives of each collection are.
* Define what material is NOT to be acquired
* Profile the social demographics of the end customer by both collection and branch.
* Determine Media and Prize lists to order from/ profile.
* Convene two-way buying committee comprising Library and Book House Experts.
* Generate mutual feedback mechanism to record and improve key buying measures and improvement opportunities.
