The Aranda Shops is a project to revitalise the somewhat unkempt (though not unloved!) local shopping centre in the Canberra suburb of Aranda.
The shops first came to life in 1968, designed by Dutch architect Dirk Bolt, and held a variety of businesses for several decades. However, the 2000s have held quieter times, with minimal occupation.
September 2014 marked a new stage, with the folk behind Two Before Ten Cafe and Coffee Roasting company taking on the master lease for the shops - to try and bring life back to it's beautiful grounds.
Plans for the site include: boutique cafe, coffee roaster, bar, pizzeria and yoga/pilates/dance studio with treatment (ie massage etc) rooms.
