St George LAC - NSW Police Force

The St George Local Area Command is located in the southern suburbs of Sydney and forms part Central Metro Region. It is part home to the St George Illawarra Dragons who play their games at OKI Jubilee in Carlton.

The neighbouring Local Area Commands are Hurstville, Campsie, Ashfield, Botany Bay, Newtown, Miranda and Sutherland.

The command is bordered in the east and south by the Botany Bay foreshore and Georges River.

The Command services both Rockdale and Kogarah Councils and shares resources with Hurstville Local Area Command, in particular the resources of the Highway Patrol and Commuter Crime Unit .

The approximate Command Population is 144,663.

There are a number of major arterial roadways that pass through this command, including the Princess Highway, Rocky Point Road, General Holmes Drive, and the M5 East tunnel.

The St George Hospital is a major trauma centre and teaching hospital that services 250,000 residents of southern Sydney. The hospital also has a 30 bed mental health unit. The St George Private Hospital treats over 25,000 patients a year and has over 320 full time employees. There are also a significant number of aged care facilities within the St George Local Area Command. The Bayside Clinic in Kogarah services around 450 methadone clients.

Sydney Airport is located on the northern boundary of the command. The command is responsible for emergency management roles in the event of an incident. The commands roles include disaster victim registration and victim support and reuniting.
