Pickpocket are a Melbourne band who play deep instrumental funk.

This 8-piece act have played several well-received shows around Melbourne since 2014, supporting or playing alongside acts such as Lake Minnetonka,
Phat Sparrow, Hey Frankie and other groove-laden combos.

Pickpocket change musical gears with ease, resulting in a compelling live performance
that celebrates the groove and embraces improvisation.

It’s a labour of love for Scottish founder and leader, bassist and composer Craig Strain, having assembled an impressive collection of musicians who hail from bands such as Big and Horny, Deep Street Soul, Kylie Auldist, Quarter Street, Chelsea Wilson, Women of Soul and others. It’s an original side project that nobody takes lightly.

With the release of their highly anticipated debut album, Sojourn, in Sept 2016, Pickpocket are looking forward to a run of shows across the
country to showcase it and spread the groove love.
