Parkes Public School

Parkes Public school has an enrolment of 450 students from Kindergarten to Year 6.We have 21 classes including a literacy class and 4 support classes.

Primary and Infants students have separate playgrounds with an outdoor fixed play equipment in both playgrounds.

Our school motto, "Strive for Success" reflects the attitude of our students and staff towards all aspects of our school including academic growth, sporting efforts, cultural attainments and personal goals.

We offer a balanced curriculum of academic, cultural and sporting programs with a strong focus on the core subjects of literacy and numeracy.

We strive to provide a stimulating and safe environment where all children are given equal opportunity. Our programs provide for all levels, including those with special needs and learning difficulties, through to the gifted and talented.

Our enthusiastic and dedicated teaching staff operate under the guidelines of the Quality Teaching Framework supported by ongoing professional development. Innovative practices are embraced.

Our school is well-resourced with two connected classrooms, a computer lab with 55 computers, computer hubs in every primary building, a class set of laptops, interactive whiteboards in every learning space and iPads in the Library.

We are soon to install a tiger turf area encompassing hot shots tennis courts,a netball court, handball squares and running lanes.

Our wide range of extracurricular opportunites for children include: school band and choir, dance program, innovative prefect system, peer support, public speaking and debating, Jump Rope for Heart, social skills, retreat room, Breakfast Club, Scripture Union Club,extension Art groups, environmental programs such as Climate Clever, Net waste, Kids Teach Kids, Green team, Australian schools competitions, Live Life Well progam,Values program, Life Education program, excursions for every grade, Premier's Reading Challenge, Sun Safe School, Asthma Friendly School, healthy canteen, a wide selection of PSSA sporting teams and Hot Shots Tennis.
