Our Lady of Good Counsel, Gatton 100 year Celebration 1917 - 2017

Welcome to the official Our Lady of Good Counsel School Centenary Celebrations Facebook page.

It was in 1913 when Father Daniel Walsh's efforts to establish a Convent School in Gatton began to look promising. After many discussions with Archbishop Duhig and parishioners, a move was made to establish a Convent and School in Gatton. After many donations, Father Walsh purchased the land on which the Convent and the ovals for the school now stand. This land was donated to the Sisters of Mercy to establish a school with boarding facilities at the Convent.

On Sunday January 14th, 1917, the new Convent and School were blessed and opened with the Sisters of Mercy faithfully conducting the School.

100 years on, members of the school community, past and present, have continued the work of the Sisters of Mercy to ensure the school remains a place of 'Rich History, Vibrant Growth and Promising Futures'.
