No. 58 Cellar Door & Gallery

Have you discovered the new cellar door for Thunderbird Wines yet? It’s a lovely little place in the grounds of the historic Waverley Estate at the eastern end of Waterport Road, just next door to Mama Lisa. Apart from wine tasting and a beautifully presented art gallery, they serve coffee and cakes and sell farm gate regional produce. They also have a range of collectables, ceramic and glass.

Their current exhibition is called “Summer Glory” and it features works by the well-known regional artist, Tom O’Callaghan. He has a special talent for capturing the effect of light on Fleurieu landscapes and in still life paintings. Also represented is local Port Elliot artist, Anne Haig, whose paintings and ceramics are the very essence of summer. In addition, there is a fascinating display of jewellery by Jo Luping, a New Zealander who is currently showing in Sydney.

The cellar door is open Friday to Monday 10am – 5pm and is located at 58 Waterport Rd Port Elliot at the front of Waverley Estate.
