Skin Cancer Treatments

Another sunny Australian summer is starting and this should be a timely reminder to have your skin checked. Its important to have your skin examined and treated by doctors who are adequately trained and experienced.

Important Skin Cancer Facts
- Australians have the highest incident of skin cancer in the world
- Skin Cancers vary markedly in severity but most are curable if detected and treated early
- Skin cancer can occur on any area of the skin, including areas not exposed to the sun.
- Malignant melanoma kills more that three Australians per day.
- More than 70 per cent of Australians will suffer from cancerous or pre-cancerous lesions at some stage in their lifetime.
- Skin cancer appearance may include superficial red patches, ulcers, ‘pearly’ red nodules, tender scaling lumps or changing irregular moles.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT EARLY DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT IS KEY TO CURE IN CASES OF SKIN CANCER

Stem Cells

Arthritis treatments with proven benefits that are 100% holistic and naturally derived when Regeneration & Rejuvenation is the preferred treatment.
Conditions most likely to be helped:
- Knee osteoarthritis
- Achilles tendon injury and tendinitis
- Ankle osteoarthritis
- Plantar faciitis
- Hip osteoarthritis
- Shoulder osteoarthritis
- Elbow/wrist osteoarthritis
- Patellar tendon injury
- Elbow tendon injury and tendinitis including tennis elbows and golfer elbows
- Shoulder tendon injury and rotator cuff
- Chronic hamstring muscle injury
We offer a two steps approach
I. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) for tendinitis, bursitis, mild arthritis and rheumatism
The procedure: a small amount of blood is taken from the arm (8mls) into a special sterile tube. The tube is then spun down in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the plasma, then the plasma portion will be injected back into the injured area sometimes under ultrasound guidance after activation by a low level laser.
How it works:
- The platelets release essential growth factors that promote and accelerate the healing process
- Improvement of microvascularisation
- Stimulation of local stem cells
- Stimulation of fibroblasts and collagen production
Post PRP treatment:
- Rest
- Avoid loading the joint and the structures where PRP was administered
- Light movement
- Return to sport when fully functional or as directed by your doctor

II. Adipose Derived Stem Cell treatment for moderate to severe arthritis and cartilage wear and tear
What are Stem Cells
Stem cells are biological cells found in all multicellular organisms, that can divide and differentiate into diverse specialised cell types and can self-renew to produce more stem cells. There are two main classes of stem cells: Adult Stem Cells (ASC) and Embryonic Stem Cells (ES).
Adult Stem Cells
Undifferentiated cells, found throughout the body after embryonic development, that multiply by cell division to replenish dying cells and regenerate damaged tissues
Scientific interest in adult stem cells is centered on their ability to divide or self-renew indefinitely, and generate all the cell types of the organ from which they originate, potentially regenerating the entire organ from a few cells. Unlike Embryonic Stem Cells, the use of adult stem cells in research and therapy is not considered to be controversial, as they are derived from adult tissue samples rather than destroyed human embryos.
The richest source of adult stem cells is the abdominal fat as it contains about 100 to 1000 times more stem cells than bone marrow per volume unit.
The procedure:
A mini liposuction extracts a small amount of lipoaspirate from the abdominal area. This is processed to extract the stem cells. Meanwhile an arthroscopy is conducted to treat the joint in the traditional way: trimming any torn meniscus and debriding the joint. At the end of the arthroscopy the stem cells are injected in the affected joint
How it works:
The stem cells have a dual action: an immediate anti inflammatory effect through the release of different factors (a paracrine action), and a later differentiation action generating chondroblasts and chondrocytes to replace and gradually regenerate the worn cartilage.
Post Stem Cell procedure:
- Rest
- Avoid loading the joint and the structures where the Stem cells were administered
- Light movement
- Return to sport when fully functional or as directed by your doctor
