Hi there, I'm Monique

I am a Gold Coast based photographer with a Bachelor of Digital Media, majoring in Photo Media, which I studied at Griffith University. I've loved photography for as long as I can remember! Since starting my studies at University I've been challenged by my tutors and myself to be better at what I love doing! Photography is not just a hobby; it's an everyday passion.


Towards the end of my second year at University, I was one of 3 students selected to submit a short video about my family to the Alexia Foundation. This opportunity was a great challenge but also a great accomplishment. I did not consider Multimedia documentaries as my strong suit but was privileged to have been chosen to represent my University and Country in a world wide competition. My work has been featured in an article which was published online. This was as a great privilege and I'm very proud to have been featured by an outstanding foundation. The Alexia Foundation promotes the power of photojournalism to give voice to social injustice, to respect history lest we forget it and to understand cultural difference as our strength – not our weakness.

Through grants, scholarships and special projects, The Alexia Foundation supports photographers as agents for change.


Some things about me:

- I use Canon.

- I prefer to shoot in natural light (although studio work is fun also).

- One of my favourite things to shoot is my Siberian husky, Axel.

- I have worked as a Santa Photographer and loved every second of it! Whoever said “don't ever work with Animals or Children”, obviously wasn't a photographer!
