Metro Mining Limited (ASX: MMI) is an exploration & mining company based in Brisbane, Australia. The company has major bauxite projects in Cape York and large thermal coal resources in Queensland’s Surat Basin.

Metro’s Bauxite Hills Project is north of Weipa in the world renowned Cape York bauxite region.

The Bauxite Hills Pre-feasibility Study (PFS) confirms a +13 year mine life based on existing DSO resources of 53.6Mt - with potential to extend mine life utilising a nearby 11.7Mt Indicated Resource.

Traditional Owner Agreements and Transhipping Contracts have been completed.

An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for annual production up to five million tonnes per annum is underway with final approval expected by Q4 2016. Production is targeted to commence Q4 2017.

Metro has secured a non-binding memorandum of understanding to sell bauxite to Xinfa Group, one of the largest integrated aluminium companies in China.
