From the beautiful pastures and blue hills of Loomberah NSW, Loomberah Gold is 100% natural raw honey, harvested from our very own bees. Strained only twice and unheated to preserve its purity and nutrients, this honey comes to you unaltered and as natural as honey can be – straight from our bees to your table!

What is raw honey?
Honeybees maintain hive temperature at around 35ºC keeping honey stable and “alive”. This means the enzymes in honey that give it its nutritional and beneficial qualities are active. Raw honey hasn’t been heated past pasteurisation – past normal hive temperature. Our honey is harvested and extracted without any heat whatsoever, ensuring that it remains in its natural and most nutritious form. Being raw, honey may sometimes become granulated – this is normal! Gentle and gradual heating will restore your honey to its golden liquid state, however some people make the mistake of microwaving their honey. This sudden “flash-heating” can actually destroy the enzymes and chemically change the honey. While remaining sweet, it becomes more like a processed sweetener, loses its nutritional value and is no longer raw.

Our bees
Apart from a weekly inspection, our bees are left alone and not moved around meaning less stressed and happier bees. Foraging on eucalyptus blossoms and local flora, our bees make a honey that has a delicate floral taste.
When it comes to harvesting, frames are carefully removed from hives and honey is extracted using a centrifuge. It is then strained to remove beeswax and debris. The result is raw pure honey – the clear golden liquid you see in our jars. We only strain our honey twice to ensure that all the good stuff – including pollen, stays in our honey!
