More about Kyokushin Karate Boonah

Kyokushin Karate is a traditional Japanese contact Karate founded by the legendary late Sosai Mas Oyama (1923-1994).

Following in the legacy and traditions of Sosai Oyama, Kyokushin Karate is recognised the world over as the strongest Karate. Offering discipline, fitness, self-defence and respect, Kyokushin Karate provides a platform to cultivate body and mind through rigorous training.
We welcome adults and children regardless of age, gender and current physical status. Training is structured to encourage and challenge students and have fun.

Boonah instructor and operator Sempai Scott Kostecki (1st Dan) commenced training in 1992 at the Kalbar Dojo under Sempai Mike Richards and trained under Shihan Trevor Field (7th Dan) in Mackay where he completed his Shodan Grading (Black Belt). After a move from Mackay, he has continued his training under the instruction of Sensei Mike Wyvill (4th Dan). He has successfully competed in local, state and national tournaments.

Sempai Scott will be assisted by Sempai Travis Ehrich (1st Dan) who also commenced training in Kalbar 1992. Shortly after completing his Shodan Grading, Sempai Travis became the instructor and operator of the Kalbar Dojo for a number of years assisted by Sempai Greg Hutchinson. Sempai Travis has successfully competed and placed in local, state and national tournaments.

Boonah dojo trains in conjunction with Sensei Mike Wyvill of Ipswich Dojo, and is affiliated with the AKKA Queensland Branch under Shihan Tony Bowden (6th Dan), 5 times Australian heavyweight champion.
