Kidnect IT is a local Newcastle business that specialises in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) enrichment learning experiences. We make STEM and literacy irresistibly FUN for the next generation through the use of robots.

As you would be well aware STEM fields are booming right now and will continue to be a growth field. It has been estimated that 75% of the fastest growing occupations require STEM skills and knowledge. However, young people in schools and universities are not acquiring the STEM skills we need for our future prosperity. International studies such as the Trends in Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) also highlight stagnation in Australia’s performance.

We at Kidnect IT would like to stop this stagnation, so we have developed STEM enrichment learning experiences aimed at primary students from kindergarten through to year 6. Our learning experiences vary in duration of a thirty minute visit to an 8 week unit.

Kidnect IT learning experiences are fun, fast paced, interactive and collaborative. By the end of each session, students have literally brought an inanimate object to life. Students build with LEGO bricks, motors, axles and gears, which they then program with a laptop to interact with the environment around it. Students love seeing their creations come to life.

During our sessions, students work in pairs or in groups of three under the guidance of our instructor who is a fully-qualified experienced teacher. Students are provided with a first-hand look at the practical, real-world application of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Throughout the sessions, students are constantly problem solving and using critical thinking skills.

There are a variety of ways to have Kidnect IT visit your school, we can either run incursions, before and after-school clubs or holiday fun activities. Kidnect IT can even run learning experiences that cater for students in your gifted and talented program or those in need of learning support. Each learning experience that we offer can be tailored to meet the needs of your student body.

We also provide corporate team building experiences that work on the same model as our school visits. However, greater emphasis is placed on working as a team rather than the strong STEM element.
