More about Kahikatea Kennels

At Kahikatea Kennels Our dogs are fed a raw meat diet, which we believe is the healthiest diet available for the dog. It has plenty of health benefits including helping cut the risk of hip dysplasia which is very common in large breeds fed on an unhealthy diet or overfed.
Our puppies are graded and sold on Main or Limited register all our puppies are reared in a family environment with our children.

The German Shepherd – The German Shepherd is a loyal dog originating from Germany. The German Shepherd is a great family dog, is highly trainable and thrives on working for his master. He is naturally protective but is gentle with the ones he loves. German Shepherd’s excel in many tasks asked of him which is why today he is so widely used especially in police, corrections, military, detection etc . The German Shepherd is the perfect dog for the active and those who want to participate in dog sports such as Obedience, Agility and IPO. German Shepherds do need to be trained from an early age, they are a relatively active breed and do need exercise on the higher end of the scale.

The Saint Bernard - Saint Bernard’s are a loyal and protective loving dog, they crave attention and benefit from cuddles and plenty of pats. They are quick to learn and large in size. Saint Bernard’s need regular grooming as they do shed a lot of hair and also they do tend to drool, the extent of how much varies greatly as some do more than others. Moderate exercise which means a couple medium walks a day. Saint Bernard’s are most suited to acreage/farm homes, but can live a very happy life in the city. Saint Bernard’s will follow you all day and lay next to you while you rest, Saint Bernard’s are good with children although they can be boisterous and knock young children to the ground, not that they mean to but they can get excited.
