Motto: "Sunt Jovis Omnia Plena" "In God all Th">“Sunt Jovis Omnia Plena” There have been many enquiries among the Brn:. who have more recently joined the Lodge as to the object and purpose of the Lodge in its dedication to ‘Universal healing in the light of Masonry’ and I will try to elucidate this and its relationship with the motto of the Lodge, which is spoken by the master when the Brn:. turn to the east. At one of the preliminary meetings of the Founders, it was decided to adopt as the object of the Lodge Universal healing, which of course in a masonic Lodge would be studied in the light of Masonry, and at the same time our motto was suggested, and the translation given then was ‘In God all things are fulfilled’. You will notice, as I have done, that this has been changed over the years to ‘All perfect things are of God’ or one may say ‘In God all things are complete’ and remembering the lengthy discussion early in the history of the Lodge, I looked up the derivation of the word ‘complete’ to find that the Latin root is ‘complete’ meaning ‘fulfilled’, thus ends the arguments as to the translation! In a body which is healthy, the functions of each part or organ are properly fulfilled, whether it be a healthy country, government, people, land, animal, tree, plant or even business establishment. Here we see the larger conception of healing, which is indeed universal. But we like to apply our conception of universal healing to a more exalted idea of the function of healing. We see in Masonry the building of a temple not made with hands and our endeavour is to rebuild or repair that temple as may be necessary to arrive at ‘perfect man’. I remember years ago being instructed by a doctor under whom I was at that time studying, that where there was physical sickness we have to look for where the sick one is out of alignment with his divinity, with his God, first, only then can we see the course necessary to arrive at wholeness, or health. So our inability to see our own lack of alignment is the measure of our inability to face truth, sometimes it is just our inability to recognise the truth within ourselves. To apply this universally, it is interesting to listen to those who live outside our shores assessing our nation, its virtues and its failings, and to discover how is the sum the total of the opinions of those who have lived with us, and those who have observed us from afar. Thus, we arrive at true diagnosis both personal and national. Apply these tests more widely and we shall begin to see how and where we can best apply healing thoughts to the healing of the earth. So we cannot help recognising that it is important how we think about our surroundings. How often do we say ‘what a sick world we live in’ and fail to recognise that the sickness is reflected in humanity, and if we study the diseases from which we suffer, and the tendency of those diseases, we shall begin to understand how all of us must redirect the power which we can and do control by mind. Suspicion and mistrust are spread abroad by fear before any war breaks in but as soon as a real desire for peace becomes evident and discussed with as much fervour as its opposite had previously been publicised, when all thoughts are directed towards peace, then peace is declared! Watch the media. The same applies personally; those whom we love we tend to think of and speak of with emphasis on their good points, but as soon as suspicion or mistrust (both aspects of fear) enter into such relationship, then we see disharmony and disruption, in other words war is declared. Therefore ‘love ye one another’ is the greatest healing instruction we have ever been given, for in looking for the beauty of spirit in all things and people we shall find harmony in all things and even a ‘man from Mars’ would be received with sympathetic understanding, and not with terror. Such is universal healing, man made perfect, ‘in God all things are fulfilled’.
