More about Jo Taylor - professional

Following my passion for horses I left the island of Guernsey in 2005 to attend university of Wolverhampton to obtain Bsc Equine and Human Sports Performance. It was here that I really gained an understanding of training the athlete both physically and theoretically. Also whilst studying in the midlands I was given the opportunity to gain valuable experience working for and receiving coaching from, international riders.
My Post graduation path travelled onto employment enabling me to put to use the theoretical training knowledge obtained and put into valuable practice; working to rehabilitate and educate horses. These successful horses were often intended and prepared for competition of horse trials and team chasing. Whilst enjoying this area of the industry it became apparent that quality veterinary care was always required to support the equine athlete.
In 2009 I was offered a yard and nursing position at Scott Dunns Veterinary Clinic. I decided to take an altered path to gain further knowledge in supporting the equine athlete and its health.
Whilst maintaining the position at The veterinary clinic in 2011 I enrolled for the Mctimoney Animal Manipulation course. The MSc Animal Manipulation Course at McTimoney College is currently unique in the world, in that it is the only externally validated Masters level course that trains students in Animal Manipulation.
Working At Scott Dunns has been a great asset whilst studying; building a repeatable relationship with the veterinary team, discussing cases such a referred lameness’ and gaining valuable knowledge. The facilities and procedures here also enabled analysis for my thesis ‘‘An Analysis of Equine Pelvic Symmetry Before and After General Anaesthesia’’.
After a short but valuable experience 'down under' I returned to develop my own business.
I continue to focus on the wellbeing of horses and always strive to further develop my own skill set.
