An association with Mansfield that dates back generations to 1856 when his great-great-grandfather took up land in the district, has always inspired gallery director Richard Watson to return to his home town to live and to open his own art gallery.

Having experienced more than 15 years managing and curating art galleries in Melbourne and art exhibitions in regional Victoria (including the Mansfield Easter Art Show), the dream has now been realised with his gallery Ibrox Fine Art Gallery opening its doors on June 10, 2016, at 24 Highett Street, Mansfield.

Ibrox Fine Art Gallery will offer a wide range of art from renowned and emerging Australian artists.
Works in oil, acrylic, watercolour, pencil and charcoal will be featured together with an extensive range of framed and unframed limited edition prints and works on paper including etchings, linocuts and lithographs with a special emphasis on a dedicated gallery space for art glass.

The word ‘IBROX’ is said to mean 'the haunt of the badger'. A suburb of Glasgow, Scotland, birthplace of this Watson clan and from which the first Watson family home in Melbourne was named in the late 1800s.

The name lives on through this gallery.
