More about Hogan's Crusader

Hogans Crusader is one of the most exciting sires currently standing at stud. His scale and elevation, style and bone are outstanding and his athleticism and temperament are exceptional.

He was purchased by Crusader Partnership in 2010 from renowned Queensland stud principals Gordon and Enid McKinlay.

Hogans Crusaders' dam is Waymere I'm Beautiful (Kirbys Stud Wallaroo). Wallaroo carries the highly sought after sire line of Quidong Brigadier (Elliots Creek Cadet) while on the dam's side, the linage goes back to Waymere Lurid Lady, a daughter of Regal Lane.

Hogans Crusader was one of the first sons of the highly acclaimed sire Knights Nicholas to stand on the open market. Knights Nicholas first arrived on the competitive scene in 2001 as a three year old, achieving an impressive 22 gates from 23 runs in his first season of campdrafting. A year later he went on to claim Champion 4yo Working Stallion at the 2002 ASH Nationals and edged out horses twice his age to win the National Stallion Campdraft. His other achievements are equally notable - he was the first full blood Australian Stockhorse to win the Cloncurry Stockmans Challenge Reining Final, he was awarded High Point Horse of the 2003 ASH National Show as well as ASH Star of the Year. He also competed successfully in campdrafting's pinnacle event; The Warwick Gold Cup.

Hogans Crusader has inherited the versatility, natural ability and looks of his father and has an uncanny cow sense which is unsurprising given his descendancy from top working horse bloodlines such as Elliots Creek Cadet, Abbey and Warrenbri Romeo.

Hogans Crusader has a strong sloping shoulder and is ideally built through the hindquarter giving him a natural performance edge. Possessing a kind eye and respectful presence, his temperament is second to none.

Although Hogans Crusader has only been campaigned lightly in recent years, his progeny are now starting to turn heads in the sale ring and competition arenas.

Recent results include Uralla Aussie, owned by David Bell and ridden by Jon Templeton, 1st 2013 Rocky Rush Novice draft, 3rd 2013 Cloncurry Novice draft, 3rd 2013 Paradise Lagoons Stallion Draft. Macks Lady, owned by Jennifer Dale and ridden by Jay Philp, 1st 2013 Nebo Open draft. Smokin’ Ash, ridden by Geoff Seeds, 1st 2013 Dawes Hall, Novice draft.

Other progeny have successfully competed and placed in showjumping, hack, dressage and polocrosse events in recent years. At the 2010 Rockhampton Quarter Horse Sale, Hogans Crusader progeny topped the ridden gelding section for $9000, topped the ridden stallion or colt section for $10,000. In 2008, a colt by Hogans Crusader equal topped the colt section of the Rockhampton Quarter Horse Sale at $17,000.
