These terms of use outline how Goulburn Valley Water interacts with its customers through social media. Please note that all communications by Goulburn Valley Water are discretionary.

Goulburn Valley Water’s social media accounts cover topics relating to our business objectives, activities and incidents or emergencies, including:

Water or sewerage service interruptions
Water quality
Infrastructure and assets
Public health and safety
Education programs
Community engagement
General business operations
Information from other relevant organisations

Goulburn Valley Water social media is open to customers who want to know more about our core business, projects, works and related activities in the Goulburn Valley Water region.

Availability

Our Social Media channels are monitored during office hours (8.30am to 5pm) Monday to Friday. Outside of these times responses from the corporation may be limited or delayed. During an incident or emergency, additional updates may be provided outside of these times.

Moderation of posts and comments

Goulburn Valley Water welcomes all questions and commentary, including constructive feedback. However, we expect participants to post commentary that is both relevant and respectful to the community.

The presence of a follower on social media does not imply Goulburn Valley Water endorses the user’s opinions or social media posts.

We do not take decisions on moderating posts lightly. However we reserve the right to remove any posts that do not adhere to our guidelines and to immediately block anyone, without notice, who violates them repeatedly. Individuals who repeatedly violate our guidelines will be notified of our intention to block them from the page.
Specifically, the Goulburn Valley Water page will not tolerate posts that are:

• Abusive
• Offensive
• Threatening
• Hateful in language
• Unlawful
• Racist or racially offensive
• Sexist or of a sexual nature
• Trolling or Deliberate disruption of discussion
• Violations of any intellectual property rights
• Spam
• Solicitation
• Irrelevant
• Link baiting (embedding a link in your post to draw traffic to another site).

Privacy

Do not include any personal or sensitive information (such as your bank account details, account number, birthday, home address, phone number, driver’s license, or tax file number). You will only receive a request from GVW for such information via an official letter or from our customer service centre. If you do receive any requests that you suspect to be fraudulent please forward them to us at socialmedia@gvwater.vic.gov.au.

At Goulburn Valley Water, we have a strong commitment to ensuring that your personal information is protected and used appropriately. GVW comply with the National Privacy Principles contained in the Federal Privacy Act in the way that we handle personal information about our customers and other individuals. The aim of the privacy legislation is to give you more control over the way organisations such as ours collect, use, secure and disclose your personal information. It also gives you the right to know what information we hold about you.
